A Guide on finding the Best Huanchaco Hostel
Huanchaco is a chilled out surf town on the northern coast of Peru, South America. It is about 10 hours north of Lima on the bus or just over an hour by plane.
A lot of backpackers stop here to break up the journey to the border of Ecuador or when visiting Mancora. Not only are there beaches but the Huanchaco Surf is well known around the world and a lot of people visit for surfing in Huanchaco.
If surfing isn’t for you then Chan Chan Peru is the famous Peru ruins located 15 minutes outside Huanachaco on the main road to Trujillo.
It’s one of those places you come for a few days and then suddenly realise you have been there a month!! It has a great charm about it and the most amazing sunsets.
On my first visit to Huanchaco, Peru 7 years ago, there was only one hostel but in recent years lots of Huanchaco hostels have opened up, catering specifically for backpackers.

Atma Hostel & Yoga
Atma Yoga Hostel is located towards the end of town, half a block from the sea. The terrace area has sea views.
Atma Huanchaco hostal offers single & double rooms with shared bathrooms and doubles with an ensuite, it also offers dorm beds. They have a kitchen for the guests to use and a great space for chilling out.
Atma Hostel Huanchaco is probably best known more for its Yoga and has classes scheduled daily. It’s best to check there facebook page for an up to date schedule.

Hostal Naylamp
Hostal Naylamp Peru is located towards the end of town, one block from the beach about a 6 minute walk from the centre of Huanchaco.
Naylamp Huanchaco offers guests, single, double, triple, quadruple rooms with private bathrooms and dorm beds. The hostel has a garden for relaxing in and a terrace with sea views.
Hostal Naylamp Huanchaco welcomes backpackers, solo travellers, groups of friends and families. It also has a shared kitchen for guest use and an onsite restaurant.

Punta Huanchaco Hostel
Punta Huanchaco Hostel is located 2 blocks from the sea on a quiet street, 5 minutes walk from the centre of Huanchaco.
The hostel offers guests double rooms with private or shared bathrooms or dorm rooms. There is shared kitchen facilities available, each room has a balcony and there is a shared terrace for relaxing and meeting other guests.
The hostel welcomes backpackers, solo travellers and groups of friends.

Urcia Surf House
Urcia Surf House is located just a few blocks from the beach, though you have a sea view from the hostel.
The hostal offers the choice of a single or double room or a bed in a mixed dorm room. None of the rooms have private bathrooms but shared bathrooms.
