Chachapoyas Travel Guide
Chachapoyas is located in northern Peru, 750 miles from Lima.
It is very popular with Peruvian’s and foreign tourists are only just starting to visit the area.
It is located on the edge of the jungle and has a tropical climate, meaning that it can be very wet there, but generally it’s quite warm during the day with cooler evenings.
It reminds me very much of Cusco and seems like a smaller version without all the tourists.
There is lots to do in the area and the most famous has to be Kuelap, where the first cable car in Peru was built.
It is easy to get from Lima to Chachapoyas as there is an airport and it is only a 1 hour 30 mins flight. You can also get the bus there from Trujillo, which is around 17 hours!!
It’s beautiful there and there is so much to do without the normal tourist crowds you get in other areas of Peru.
