The Best Hostels in Huacachina

The Huacachina Lagoon is famous for being an oasis in the desert and it used to be famous because of its sulfurous waters. It is located approximately 5 km from Ica and in the past many famous people would visit to take advantage of the waters.

Nowadays it is popular with tourists and locals who seek adventure and want to explore the nearby sand dunes on a dune buggy and try sand boarding. 

The lakes greenish waters take this colour due to the water flows, though it does make the water look like it is dirty. Around the lagoon you can see beautiful vegetation with diverse plants, from palms, eucalyptus trees, as well as carob trees.

Huacachina has a warm climate most of the year and when you get to this beautiful place you have the chance to enjoy different sand sports such as the sand buggy, sandboarding or hiking to the top of the sand dunes for an amazing sunset.

Banana’s Adventure Hostel

Banana’s Adventure Hostel is located in front of the Huacachina lagoon just off the promenade that goes around the lake, it is a nice place with clear balconies outside the rooms, so that you can enjoy the views from within. It is modern with a rustic feel and has many plants and trees to give you shade when you are chilling by the pool or enjoying food or a drink in the bar area.

The rooms are very comfortable and you can choose from double, trip or shared rooms with 4 or 6 beds and free wifi. The bar area has great food and drinks and is a good place to meet new people or just enjoy a good time. 

Breakfast is included and at the 24 hour reception, the staff can help book you excursions to the Ballestas Islands, or a flight over the Nazca lines. Truly incredible experiences.

The Upcycled Hostel Huacachina

The Upcycled Hotel is located just outside Huacachina on the road to the laguna. It is about a 10 minute walk to the centre of the town, but it is a modern and beautiful place to stay. It has free wifi, breakfast included and a restaurant with dishes of the region and veggie options. 

There are great spaces to hang out, during the day or on an evening and you can cool down in the pool if its hot.

Its rooms are very clean and you can choose from 6 or 8 shared rooms or private double rooms with private bathrooms.

Desert Nights Hostel

The Desert Nights Hostel is located just a few meters from the lagoon of Huacachina with a roof top terrace overlooking the lagoon.

It has double or twin rooms or a bed in a 6 bed dorm room. The dorm rooms have lockers for your belongings. You can relax outside in an area for guests or upstairs in the bar..

The hostel has a tour agency located inside so that you can book a trip sandboarding or to Paracas.

Wild Olive Guest House

The Wild Olive Guest House is located in the centre of Huacachina on the promenade that goes around the lake. It is a very cozy hotel for visitors as it has a lounge and kitchen for guests to use. There are options of double rooms and 8 bed dorm rooms, in which you will find lockers or security lockers to keep your things safe.

The guest house has a restaurant for you to enjoy the best meals of the town, a tourist information desk to learn more about the place and to book any tours you may want.

The location is excellent and the restaurant has a terrace that gives you a magical view to enjoy the main attraction of the place which is the lagoon. Guests also have access to a swimming pool, though it is not on site.

Wild Rover Huacachina

The Wild Rover is located in Huacachina and is located a few blocks from the lagoon and a short walk from it. It is known for its party atmosphere and if you are looking to have lots of fun with games and activities such as pool volleyball and drinking games then this is the place for you.

There are the options of double and triple rooms or you can stay in a 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 14 bed dorm room. All the rooms have lockers and privacy curtains and the whole hostel is brightly decorated. It is a great place to meet people and at the weekends they have a DJ at the hostel bar.

If you are looking for a chill, relaxing hostel then this is not the place to stay, you need to book into another hostel as you won’t be much sleep in Wild Rover.

Huacachina Sunset Hostel

Hostal Huacachina is a hostel located just a block from the lagoon, with some of its rooms overlooking the lake, which is the main attraction of the area. Here you can choose from single, double, twin, triple, quadruple rooms with private bathrooms or a bed in a 7 bed dorm room. The hostel has a swimming pool and Wi-Fi internet connection. 

It has a 24-hour reception and a roof top terrace with views of the sand dunes as well as the lake where you can relax during the day.

Breakfast is included (continental and vegetarian), and there is also a bar if you want to enjoy a drink at the bar. The hostel is a bit old fashioned compared to some of the new hotels, but overall the hostel is quiet if you are wanting a good nights sleep.
