Where to stay in Cusco
Cusco itself is quite a large city and you need to make sure when you are booking accommodation in the city of Cusco that you are located in the best area for you. Below I have listed the most popular areas for tourists to stay while visiting Cusco so that you are close to the history and best restaurants and bars and where you can find some of the best hotels in peru. If you love luxury then check out these 5 star hotels in Cusco.
Historic Centre
The Historic centre of Cusco covers a large area of the city, with the Plaza de Armas (Main square) in the centre. Here you will be in walking distance of the museums, inca ruins and the best restaurants and bars in Cusco.
It is possible to get quiet hotels away from the hustle and bustle of the Plaza de Armas if you just book a little further on the outskirts of the historic centre. For example in the San Blas area.
Plaza de Armas
The plaza de Armas is a great location and in the heart of the old city. Around the Plaza de Armas you will find some great restaurants and bars.
It is a very lively area during the day and night and especially during festivals so if you want something quite then you may be best picking a place in the San Blas area.
San Blas
This is one of my favourite areas in Cusco, it is very quiet and historically has been the artisan area of Cusco. A lot of the area is uphill so if you are not good at walking it may be best to just visit this area.
San Blas is full of small, windy, cobbled streets and has a lot of charm about it. It is only around a 5-10 minute walk from the Plaza de Armas so the perfect location if you are wanting somewhere a bit quieter.
